Anti-doping

We fight against doping!

Prohibited substances

Only athletes who have not taken any prohibited substances for at least 10 years are allowed to take part in the SNBF championships. We adhere to the official doping list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and also prohibit other substances that we consider to be problematic.
The SNBF carries out regular doping tests. Before the competition, in-depth polygraph tests and/or urine tests are carried out in accordance with the WADA protocol. In addition, the top three finishers in each class must provide a urine sample.

Urine tests

Unannounced urine tests are carried out at irregular intervals throughout the year. These are carried out randomly or on suspicion.
All test procedures are carried out by independent teams of experts with the appropriate professional qualifications.
The polygraph tests are carried out according to the latest scientific findings with an accuracy of well over 90%. The urine tests are carried out strictly according to WADA protocol and the samples are analyzed in a WADA-accredited laboratory.

Doping tests

Polygraph test

A number of athletes will be asked to take an in-depth polygraph test before the competition. The test takes place 1-2 days before the competition and is carried out and evaluated by experts from Switzerland. Class winners who have not been tested in advance will take this test afterwards.

Urine test

Immediately after the ranking ceremony, the top three finishers in each class must provide a urine sample. This will be collected by a team of experts from Germany and analyzed by an independent WADA-accredited laboratory. The placings and rankings are not officially valid until the results have been announced.

Off-Season

The SNBF carries out doping tests at irregular intervals outside the competition season. The athletes who are tested are selected at random or on suspicion. A positive or refused doping test is sanctioned in accordance with the specifications of the Doping Commission.

Doping list

The SNBF adheres to the official doping list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and also bans other substances that are considered problematic.

Supplements

Only approved products

However, the cause of a positive test is irrelevant and always leads to a sanction, i.e. usually to a ban of two to seven years, depending on the substance found.

We therefore recommend that you only use products that are officially approved in Switzerland.

From abroad

Supplements ordered from abroad or from unknown suppliers carry a high risk of contamination, which can lead to positive doping test results.

Foreign products may also contain substances whose use is prohibited according to the SNBF doping list.

Body tuning check

In collaboration with muscle physiologist Marco Toigo, the ZFPS designed a website on the topic of bodybuilding in 2016. In addition to information on the health risks of consuming anabolic androgenic steroids, it includes the section “Myths and facts”. This provides clear facts to counter the common myths about anabolic steroid use in the bodybuilding scene. It also lists studies, literature and links on the subject as well as advice centers for those affected and their families.
